Manifest Destiny by Alfonso Colasuonno

I met the junkie priest
on 14th street over
by the L just another
hipster going on my
way back to our
isolated district
that we took over
from puerto ricans
who were there before
us and now we opened
up plenty of coffee
shops and bars
and thai restaurants
to satisfy our lust
for destruction and
the junkie priest
knew this yet
absolved his blessing
when i handed him
a twenty dollar
bill to pay for
his next score.
