Amnesiac Concerto for Believers by Peter Magliocco

All the imperishable instances converge in you,
unfathomable dimension of
the priestess lurking
around edges of ineffable desire —

(with upraised guitar,
symbolic heraldic aggression
on outdated middle class mores
only fuzzy lyrics retired DJs remain
sentimental about) —

she screams out Rock’s aural chants
to obscenely plague delicate ears
hidden in dust of fossils.
Audience in thin-airs at best
applaud from ossified spectrums
while the real crowds freak-out
with upscale ecstasy entrenched
in warbling vein
before you disrobe before them,
showing your tattooed butt-codex
wherein the hip scriptures itch
while blown-up on mega-screens
boggling the loyal choir lip-syncing
testaments of a forgotten rhyme
