Prudence by Randall Rogers

It’s best to join a cult group when it’s young
before Jonestown,
because when it nears its end,
when the leader nears her end,
too idiosyncratic;
a successor is not an option.
And the death of the group
proves the group, its leader,
and following that leader
into death
and afterlife if there is one,
beyond smelly biological-chemical breakdown
and fertilizer nutrient change,
guarantees perpetual life.
