A Sad Fact Trilogy & (Wild Man- drawing) by Stephen Jarrell Williams

Vertigo

Falling over backwards
into a spinning-in-circles dark

trying to grab on to something
that’s not there

your whole body slamming down
back of the head a one-bounce thud

fizzing fuzz of tiny stars
jaw lolling open to one side

a mental barrage of cuss words
with your last breath probably bad

and no woman to bring you back
to how you once walked like a real man.

They’re Standing Over You

The cop and bum that found you
frowning at how much you peed in your pants
your mustache streaked with lines of clear snot
wearing some old boots with heels worn down
and your hair much too long for a man your age
now coughing and coming out of it
muttering something crazy about
Dead Snakes coming back to life again!

That Ain’t Fair

Your wife left you
hand in hand
with your guardian angel.

Not so long ago, Stephen Jarrell Williams was called by some, the Great Poet of Doom… Now, he writes at night, enthused, and waiting for the Coming Good Dawn.
