Victim by Ben Rasnic

Night hangs
from the rafters,
thick underbelly of dark cloud
full of rain.

Kiting down,
a black widow
flossing silken threads
slices through
the heart’s empty glass.

Bound like a fly
whose wings chewed apart,
you languish in prisons
of your own design—

a slide glass specimen
scrutinized by the predilection
of others,
food for thought.

Ben Rasnic is originally from Jonesville, Va (population <1000). His published poetry collections include: “Artifacts and Legends”, “Puppet”, “The Eleventh Month” and “Synchronicity”.
