88 Years Old And Cold As Ice by Mather Schneider

Old Jewish transplant lady tells me in my cab
the secret to happiness is

never to cry
over a man or a woman.

If they don’t love you
just accept it.

What’s to cry over?
Move on.

Why in the hell would you give that other person
the satisfaction

of knowing you cried over them?
She herself never cried once over any man

and when she made that one tiny mistake
and her husband cried about it

she never forgave him.
It was disgusting to tell the truth:

a man crying over a woman.
If they don’t love you

they don’t love you,
you can’t force someone to love you

and why would you want to?
Plenty of fish in the sea.

Ask the lord for a quick resolution
wipe your hands

and take 10,000 milligrams
of B-12 daily.
