Respect Me by Mather Schneider

It’s disgusting how many men and women
are assholes when they are
young, assholes
to each other and their
children, assholes to their friends
and family, assholes to the grocery
clerks and the bus drivers and the
people on the streets,
assholes to their doctors, assholes to their
teachers and neighbors,
assholes to the birds and the
squirrels and their dogs and
cats, assholes with their bumper
stickers, political
opinions, assholes at 20, 25, 30, 35,
assholes to their coworkers, assholes
at 45, 50, 55, assholes upon
retirement, and then they scream
that the world must respect them
because they are old,
simply because they are old.
