Mind The Gap by Katie Lewington

his skin resembled Midnight
open pores
slick with  sweat
swept back by chilled night air
as if a hairbrush
through untidy tresses

tremors of the come down
caused him to
put down
the bottle
and belch
in full view
and sound
of the cackling girls
and their bare legs
out of place
in the family run pub

where old men
sat stiffly
with big bellies
on garden wall
and smoked
while they vaped.
