The Dickhead In #14 by Mather Schneider

When I first met him
he was working
on his car
in the apartment parking lot
because someone had poured sugar
in the gas tank
I said hello and he just
ignored me

and then he put
a sign on his door
DO NOT DISTURB
THIS MEANS YOU

in case we were all
confused as to
who it meant

he’s got these beady
little eyes

I saw him in the laundry
room one day
it’s a small room
and we
almost touched once
and when I reached in to
pull out my clothes
they were HIS clothes
he had taken mine out
and put them in a corner
when I stepped out for a smoke

we were the same size
I could have worn his clothes
he said
hey those are mine
don’t touch those

I didn’t say a word
about it
I just finished my laundry

and then went to the store
to buy some
sugar
