Tarantula Blue by Joe Balaz

Out of da sighing pan and into da mire
wit head in hands and wun dose of tarantula blue.

It’s wun B movie in wun A+ world

wen wun monster rears its hairy legs
on da mind’s silver screen.

From da burrow to da prey

madness struck in da cerebral cave
like wun hammer to wun anvil.

Da unseen audience gasps in unison

because da fangs wuzn’t meant
foa wun super roach

laced wit tons of stimulant dynamite—

Popcorn puffs rain down on da carpet
like particles from wun nuclear fallout.
Da explosion wen create wun new galaxy of stars
twirling ovahhead like wun whirlpool.

Somebody needs to get da usher.
Wun flashlight in da dark always helps.
While da theater spins in delirium

anadah menace is crawling up wun tree
to devour wun chick in wun bird nest.

Now dats wun bold idea

cause da move is wun high aspiration
foa wun addicted spider.
It’s amazing wat you see in wun stupor
on da hell ride of wun ovahdose.

It’s just as useful as today’s torn ticket stub
foa next week’s nostalgic black and white film.
