The Song Of Spring by Amit Parmessur

The gleesome buzzing
of the empty hamlet
in Spring chases
the winter away
and heals my heart.

All refreshed and
bubbly, when loud
church bells chime,
I anticipate green
fecund days and smile.

And I rush
into the sunny wind
that carries me
where I hear wild
drumming on drainpipes.

Born in 1983, Amit Parmessur is a poet and teacher. He has been published in several print and online journals. A Pushcart Prize and Best of the Web nominee, he lives on one of the most beautiful islands in the world, Mauritius.
