Choice by JD DeHart

Arm can choose
to wrap around arm,
a biological or chemical
motion of what we know
as affection

Verses can tell us more
than frigid data tundra

Messages are more
than the bottom half
of a campaign poster
or a 30 second blip

Sometime the clockwork
must slow to give
enough time to consider
the ebbs and flows
of what makes us real

Dancing like crimson glass
in the blood, down deep,
a human sense that swells
against canvas barrier says

Don’t regulate the heart,
let it beat as it well pleases.
