Ditches by Ali Znaidi

Oh language, dig up those ditches
never explored before!
—Dig up Madame Bovary’s
undetectable nakedness!
Oh language, nothing remains
on the grass but traces of her body!
Nothing remains but stories and tales.
Although stories are fabricated,
they have the structure of a dream.
—A bleach cleansing the dirty hands
of reality. And reality is nothing
but a black halo contouring
Madame Bovary’s body.
