Morning Sun by James D. Casey IV

Holding on
To the front of the tide
Riding through
A wet dream
Turned nightmare

The morning sun
Burns my eyes
On a dead end street
A foundation built
Upon the bones of angels

Lost again
Come what May
In April
I cry the broken
Clown man blues

A smoldering cigarette
A shot of cheer
I feel lost souls
Dancing around my head

Reading bullshit meme poetry
In early Broke neck hours
Making me wonder
Making me mad

Happy
Sad
And in between
All at once

Life seems so far away
Yet so close
I can feel it deep
Within my bones

The loss of a friend
The loss of self
Carnage upon a torn page
Within a book called life

Missing people
Long gone
Still here
And fresh among the dead

All I can do is dream
And lie
And hurt
Here in the morning sun
