Song In Sky Blue, In Shades Of Grey by John Sweet

and i don’t know how to be you and i am
tired of being christ and there is never
any truth as good as the one that suits us best

there is only varo with a  handful of
fire, weeping over bosch’s bones

my father with an
empty hallway for a heart

dead at 49 and the phone still rings for
him 20 years later

sounds like a punchline and i am
driving to constantine in the bitter
sunlight of early spring but there is never any
road that takes us far enough away from all
the fear and pain of the past

there is never any house
that offers absolute safety

i remember laughing when i told you
this even as you were walking out the door
