Learned My Lesson by Linda M. Crate

i finally learned my lesson
won’t bite an apples & won’t be evicted
from any other gardens
i won’t believe in anything that seems
too good to be true
in a person
&
i will follow only my heart and my dreams
being true to who i am and healing the world
with my love and light
because i don’t need a man when i am an ocean,
zillions of worlds and realms and words,
and a wild fire that will never
be tamed;
i am a rose who remembers her thorns
will cut you should you come sniffing around here again
because you’re just a silver tongued serpent
the very thing nightmares are made from
one day every monster like you
will be slain.
