He Had Dreams by Grant Guy

His father would have walked out on him
But he beat his father to the punch
He had his dreams    big dreams
When he hit the road in the language of Kerouac
Kenneth Patchen was the star he followed
The apex he would exceed
But that was 30 years ago
He works at Hill Home Hardware in Medicine Hat
And no one remembers his name
