What A Circus by Mike Zone

Again, I thought about my father’s mother
at nearly 100 years old
who ignored me
nearly all my life
especially when I was born
near death
pre-maturely sending out
the bereavement card
now sitting in front of a giant screen tv.
at an upscale christian nursing home
fresh flowers- attended by barely legal turn nurses
waiting to die
with but one request
everyone wants a relationship near death
