When Camille receives
an unsolicited apology
from a former lover,
she can’t decide
whether to crow in victory
or ruefully laugh.
In his email,
twenty years after she
kicked him to the curb,
he admits he was
verbally abusive,
behaved like a shit.
She wonders what new
medication, guru or therapist
has triggered his remorse.
Hopes the bad karma
he has earned for the way
he jerked her around
bites him right in the ass.
