Superheroes by Sam Rose

superheroes don’t wear capes – they
wear pyjamas or hospital gowns,
sometimes frowns more than smiles.
heroines are made from being
partially naked in front of strangers
who poke and prod and murmur and nod.
champions are diagnosed and delegated
these roles and in the end still may say
“I am not strong”.
