Superior Tube Along the Skippack Creek by Gene Halus

There is no Grendel
for a hale Geat to grapple,
rending flesh from joint.
If only it were so apparent,
our’s stalks us
bringing enigmatic death.
It flows from the once pure
to cascade into us,
slowly eating away.
Fighting at the cellular level –
chemical or radiological –
our heroes do not look so hale.
